Last month in Geneva, the 2022 Global Road Safety Film Festival was organised by the Foundation Laser International (LIFE) in collaboration with The United Nations Road Safety Found (UNRSF) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE).

A cross-functional team of Toyota members in Europe and Japan took an initiative to participate. “We simply wanted to seize this opportunity to tell what we are doing at Toyota to contribute to road safety,” says Kaori Hasegawa, Toyota Motor Europe Corporate & Online Communications who coordinated the collaboration. “The news came as a great surprise for us.”

Out of almost 100 films that were submitted, Toyota’s film was awarded the Grand Prize in the Smart and Safe Mobility Category. The film was selected by a diverse audience – jury and the public from Europe as well as counties such as Senegal, Uruguay and India. The international jury was made up of senior road safety and media personalities from the United Nations Economic Regions: United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (UNECLAC ) and United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

“This opportunity led to our company’s safety message getting exposure to 25 NGOs and their respective communities. We are very grateful.”
